Abstract：Yangians are certain deformations of the classical Lie algebras,introduced by Drinfeld to provide a systematic framework to solve the celebrated Yang-Baxter equation. Many Lie theoretical results can be better treated in terms ofYangians. Starting from the matrix algebras, we will examine the associated Yangian algebras and discuss some recent developments of the Drinfeld realization, including joint work with Ming Liu and Alexander Molev.
